Google

Overview

Google is an American company that primarily provides online related products. Google's headquarters are located in California. Google is considered one of the big five alongside Amazon, Facebook, Apple, and Microsoft. Google was founded in September of 1998 by Larry Page and Sergery Brin while at Stanford. Google went public in 2004 by an initial public offering. In 2015, Google was then a part of a company called Alphabet Inc. Sundar Pichai was then given the role of CEO for Google replacing former CEO, Larry Page. Google's growth started with its well known core search engine. Today Google.com is the most visited site worldwide. Google offers a lot of services including, Google drive, Google cloud, hardware, Gmail, Google contact, Google Calendar, Google meet, Google site, Google Cloud Search, and more. Google' revenue distribution include; Advertising, Cloud, and others.

Google's revenue has increased drastically over the last few years.

Their revenue distribution includes 3 main sources. Advertising, Cloud, and others. Advertising makes up most of the revenue year by year.

Over the last few years, Google's advertising revenues have been slowly decreasing while the other 2 revenues have been increasing.

Google search is one of the most popular search engines worldwide. Because of this, there are many people using their search and searching for many different categories. This can include food, directions, shopping, information, math, reading and more.

Advertising

Google ads is an online system where advertisers bid to put advertisements to users. It can either show ads on the search result itself or apps and videos. Some of Google's competitors for search include

  • Microsoft Edge

  • Amazon

  • Bing Ads

  • Wordstream

  • Kenshoo

  • Yahoo

The one advantage Google has over many other companies is their popularity. Like I said before, Google is the most popular website visited worldwide. This means there are more chances for advertising to more people. Ever since the google search was first introduced, the market share of search engines has completely been lopsided. In the last 5 years, Google's market share has been increasing at a rapid rate. Currently, Google has a whopping 92% for search engines.

Cloud

The google cloud platform is a program of services that run on the same infrastructure. Some of the products offered include Gmail, file storage, and youtube. Some of Google's competitors include Microsoft, IMB, Oracle, Alibaba Cloud, VMware, Lumen, and more. Their revenues are increasing each year while their market share is also slowly increasing. The problem is that while it is increasing, their competitors are also rising. Google is sitting around third in market share with AWS and Microsoft ahead. Like I said before, most of Google's revenues come from advertisements, but Google cloud is slowly becoming a bigger part of Google.

Financials

As we went over before, Google's revenue is highly reliant upon their advertising. However, each year, Google's revenue distribution shows that Cloud and others are slowly becoming a bigger part of google.

Their revenues are growing at a good rate exceeding the previous year by a lot.

Conclusion

Google has many lines of business which all seem to be growing. They have a diversity of products and have a good growing core as well. I think Google is a great company to invest in considering the standpoint that they are currently in. Their Market share is also growing as a whole and seems to be taking over the internet.
